Project Rainbow Bookmark Design Contest

Welcome to the Cook County Project Rainbow Bookmark Design Competition! For the first time ever, Cook County will select its official bookmark for school year 2025-26. And we want you to design it!

Starting August 15, submit an entry on the form below. Designs must be turned in by midnight Monday, September 15, 2025.

Winning bookmarks will be printed and distributed at the Cook County building, in celebration of National Book Month in October. Each winner in each category will have their bookmark designs displayed on this website and as a stand-up banner in the Cook County lobby.

  • The contest is open to kids in grades K-6. Winners will be chosen in two categories: grades K-3, and grades 4-6.
  • Each winner in each category will receive a Kindle Kids.
  • The winners will have the opportunity to visit with President Toni Preckwinkle and to have an official resolution of their work.
  • Artwork should relate to books, reading and/or your community. Artwork must be non-AI generated, original and completed independently by the child.
  • Contestants are limited to one entry.
  • Art becomes the property of Cook County’s Project Rainbow Initiative.
  • Winners will be notified by email by October 1, 2025.
